Addressing Thinning Hair With Clinical Precision
Thinning hair is one of the most common and frustrating forms of hair loss experienced by both men and women. Unlike complete baldness, thinning hair can be particularly difficult to manage, existing hair remains but lacks the density and coverage it once had, leaving the scalp increasingly visible and styling options increasingly limited.
At PADDA in Glasgow, our SMP density treatment is specifically designed for clients who retain a degree of natural hair but wish to restore the appearance of fullness and thickness. Using advanced micropigmentation techniques, we deposit carefully matched pigment between existing follicles, creating the visual impression of greater density that is entirely natural and undetectable.

The Density Treatment Technique
SMP density work is among the most technically demanding applications of scalp micropigmentation. Unlike treatments for complete baldness, where the entire scalp is treated, density work requires the precise placement of pigment within and around existing hair follicles, demanding an exceptional level of accuracy and an acute understanding of colour, tone, and natural hair distribution.
Each pigment deposit is individually placed to mimic the appearance of a natural follicle, carefully matched to the client's existing hair colour and skin tone.
Deposits are distributed to replicate the organic pattern of natural hair growth, avoiding any regularity or uniformity that would appear artificial and are layered across sessions to build a result that is convincing at every distance.
The technique is equally applicable to men and women and can be targeted to specific areas of concern or applied more broadly across the scalp depending on the individual's needs.
The Treatment Process

Scalp Micropigmentation involves the precise application of specialist pigment into the upper dermal layer of the scalp. Each deposit is carefully placed to replicate the appearance of a natural hair follicle, with attention given to density, depth, and direction to ensure a result that is consistent and convincing.
Treatment is conducted across a minimum of two to three sessions, each spaced approximately two to four weeks apart. This interval allows the pigment to settle and integrate naturally, with each subsequent session refining and building upon the previous work.
A detailed consultation is conducted to assess the distribution and extent of thinning, discuss your aesthetic goals, and determine the most appropriate treatment plan.
Stage 1 — Initial Consultation
The first session establishes the base layer of pigment, introducing tone and beginning the replication of follicular detail across the treatment area.
Stage 2 — Foundation Session
Subsequent sessions build upon the foundation, increasing density and refining the result to ensure a seamless, natural integration with your existing hair.
Stage 3 — Refinement Sessions
A thorough review is carried out on completion to confirm the result is consistent, natural, and meets the agreed standard. Any refinements are addressed at this stage.
Stage 4 — Final Assessment
